About the Yeti Coin Designs

An Irish Pub at the Top of the World

I've traveled a good bit around the world and it seems to me that in every city, there is always an Irish Pub not too far away! Perhaps on a busy corner or nestled away on a sleepy back alley; the familiar site of a pub draws people in for a drink and good conversation.

I knew I wanted to make a coin from Nepal, the home of the infamous Yeti Monster and I thought it would be a fun to create an off the wall modern coin crafted after a drink token you sometimes get from establishments at tastings or promotional events. Thus, the creation of Trekker's Tavern - An Irish Pub at the Top of the World!

In my research, it turns out, there actually is such a Pub near Mt. Everest! So, the idea for this coin is not far fetched!

As the fabled story goes, Trekker's Tavern had an issue. People heading up the mountain would hang out a few days and stop in while acclimating to the altitude, but as soon as they came down off the mountain, they were quick to leave town. The solution? Offer a drink token that was redeemable for a free drink, but only after you returned from your trip.

As a bonus, the owner of the Tavern wished safe travels to all the hikers who passed through and therefore put a shinny chrome plating on each drink token. This encouraged the travelers to carry the token with them, because it could be used as a survival mirror. Incase of emergency, such as an avalanche or accident, the bright silver token can be used to reflect the sun's light and attract the attention or search and rescue teams!

Once the tokens began circulating the Tavern noticed a substantial increase in returning customers a week after their first visit. A success story indeed!

This coin is intentionally designed to contrast our Bigfoot coin. Image locations, details, and dates all share similarities to create dramatic color change and transposition magic routines!

About the Bullet Coin Designs

Better You Believe!

Believe it or not, there are actually real Nepalese coins made out of WWII bullet casings! I can't make this stuff up and I didn't need to do so. It's just a cool story.

Unfortunately, those real coins are simply too small and thin for comfortable, practical sleight of hand. We magicians needed a coin that matched our favorite half dollar size coins. Thus the need to design a new, historically inspired bullet coin, that can serve our unique purposes.

Historical bullet coins were fashioned from real WWII bullet casings from Nepalese Gurkha Warriors who fought alongside the British troops against Axis Powers.

These fierce fighters received many honors and held a crucial role in preventing the World from falling into the hands of tyrants.

The face of the Bullet Coin features Nepalese inspired flower artwork and the text reads "Better You Believe." This comes from a Sherpa guide saying about the myths and legends encountered while guiding travelers up and down Mt. Everest. The full quote is, "Maybe true. Maybe Not. Better you believe!" The date of 2012 (it appears to read 2092, but this is a historical font) comes from the Nepalese "Back to the Future" calendar which is actually the year 1955. This date is the same year on our first coin, the Tiger Tan.

The reverse side of the coin features weathered Nepalese artwork of a yeti. True to the historical coins, the center hole of the coin appears a touch off center where the bullet cartridge base was "mashed." In reality, the physical hole in the coin runs true in the exact center where it should be.

Final Note:

All new coins are in final production at the factory. Ships December 2024. Bullet coin design is finalized. Final Yeti and Phoenix coin colors and finishes may vary slightly from these prototype images.
